Cборник гравюр Джованни Баттисты Кавальери «Древние статуи города Рима» как иконографический компендиум

Аннотация
Анализируя сборник гравюр Джованни-Баттисты Кавальери «Древние статуи города Рима» (Antiquarum Statuarum Urbis Romae), автор выдвигает гипотезу о его функциональном назначении. Типология изображений скульптуры указывает на то, что приоритетной задачей для гравера было привести наиболее полные сведения о запечатленных объектах. Художественные особенности гравюр свидетельствуют о том, что Кавальери стремился задокументировать антик как таковой, не воспринимая его облик как модель идеальной человеческой фигуры, пригодной для учебных целей. Перечисленные наблюдения позволяют предположить, что сборник мог мыслиться как иконографический компендиум, созданный на основе античных подлинников из римских собраний.
